Little robin was drenched, bless him!
This is the blackie with a chunk missing out of his
head, poor thing! But hes feeding young, and seems ok.
I think it looks awful, could the other blackies have done this to him?

Just couldnt resist this one! These 2 sat like this for
ages in the pouring rain! No idea what they were doing.....
....suppose they were just being...erm..sturks!

the greenfinch!
Poor blackbird but great pics Karen.those two sturkling chicks seem to be enjoying the rain on their faces.Well done with the greenfinch

Blackie looks like a vulture :). I wouldn't be surprised if another blackbird did that to him, I had a male have a go at a baby blackbird this morning!

ReplyDeletegreat photography again karen, think your blackbird might be suffering from some kind of disease, you can't see any marks on it's head where it has been pecked at, i find that the feeders i have ( very similar to yours ) produce a lot of spillage when the birds are feeding, so i decided to make my own catch trays, you would be surprised how much seed you catch.

Very spoilt birdies!!Steve, im finding that alot of the fledglings are being pushed around a bit by some adults, poor little things! Was your little blackie ok? Geordie, with my job, i could make him a little wig!!!Denis, i get an awful lot of spillage from my feeders, especially on the patio! i sweep up a massive pile of seed each evening! ReplyDeletehi karen, i cut the bottom out of some plastic containers i had, and if you look underneath the feeder you will see a threaded hole, the thread on mine is 16mm, i think they are all standard, drill a hole in centre of your plastic container then get a 16mm bolt about 25mm long and screw it to your feeder, failing this tie it onto the feeder with twine, will post close ups of mine on my blog.
